I was very sad to hear of the loss of Taff Addison. He was in my platoon in Celle and was a much respected member of the 3RGJ. My sincere condolences go to his family.

A dust whom England bore shaped made aware.

Gave once her flowers to love her ways to roam.

A body of England's breathing English air washed by the rivers blest by the suns of home.

And think this heart all evil shed away a pulse in the eternal mind no less.

Give somewhere back the thoughts by England given.

Her sights and sounds dreams happy as her day.

Laughter learnt of friends and gentleness.

In hearts of peace under the English heaven.

For those that couldn't attend, Taff's funeral was held on Wednesday 21st Sept at Semington Crematorium in Wiltshire.

It was well attended with approximately 200 present. The Commanding Officers, old and new, from 2RGJ, were present along with the MTO, RSM and RQMS(M) among others. 1RGJ was also represented.

The association and friends were well represented by many, some of whom travelled from as far as Leeds for the day. Far too many to mention individually.

Taff was carried by his brothers, Alan, Brian, Robert and John, and two old friends. I read the lesson, with Alan and John also saying some words.

The service was closed by the last post, played by Rfn Clark from the bugle platoon 2RGJ.

The wake was, as is traditional, attended by many at the United Services Club in Warminster. A large (very large) bottle of whisky, which had belonged to Taff's late father was raffled, then auctioned on behalf of the winner, raising in total around £500.00. It was mainly consumed that evening.

It was a fitting tribute, one which Taff himself would have enjoyed.

He will be missed.

Taff's Father-in-law, Paul, asked me to pass on his and the family's thanks for the attendance at the funeral, the wake and all the good wishes they have received.

He asked me to pass on that the total money raised on behalf of Taff's daughter on the night was £985.

i,m writing this as a heart felt thanks to every one that attened my brothers funeral and every one who posted a message, we as a family are still coming to terms with fact that david has gone and like every one that new him, we,ll miss him as a part of a family or as a friend, my familys thanks goes to bill tyson who helped with the arrangement of friends to be there. thanks bill!!. The funeral was a do that dave would have loved himself and it ment alot to the family(esp our mother) to have his many friends there. once again my familys and davids wifes family thanks every you for their support.

I have just heard of the shocking and tragic news of Taff
(Dave Addison) what a Great Bloke we were in 6 Plt B Coy 3RGJ together serving in Chatham and Londonderry and again in Oakingham, we were good mates but unfortunately we lost contact after I left The Regiment, although he did come and stay at my Pub in Windsor, but then i got divorced and moved on and we lost contact, I am deeply sad at what a great lost Taff will Be, My Condolances go to his Family, I Have some Photos of Taffy while we were in Londonderry if his family would like a copy I would be happy to send them on

What a shock to hear about taff, I was in six platoon B coy with him in Londonderry what a great bloke he was. Im so annoyed with myself for not finding out earlier and paying my respects, god bless him.
