I have spoken with Ruby this evening. The funeral is confirmed at Basingstoke Crematorium on 6 January 2006 at 1200 hrs. Ruby has requested no flowers.

The family are trying to locate Barrie Gilmore and Sandy Wells. Anyone know where they are?

I was shocked to hear of the death of Bob. Bob came from my home village/town of Carterton and was known by all of us who came from there. Sandy Wells still lives in the area as far as I know and I will do my best to find him

I will try and contact Don Terrell, Roy Baillie and the others who all knew him so well.

My condolences go out to Ruby and the family.

I hope to be able to make the funeral.

Very sad news to hear about another Greenjackets gone. Knew Bob very well. He will be a sad loss to Greenjackets. One of the old 1st Battalion. Hope to make the funeral on Friday 6th Jan.

Comming from Andover on the A303. The A303 splits into M3 and A30 at Popham. Take the A30 and the Crematorium is sign posted. Don, I have never been there but I have just got these directions from Bob's son Alex.

To be honest he was unaware of there being two Crematoriums in Basingstoke, but if there is, then its the Popham one we need.

Saddened to hear of Bobs passing, though I have not seen him for many years I remember him very well and with much fondness.

Sandy Wells has now been contacted by Don Terrell and he will be attending the funeral.

I have also spoken with (Major) Peter Casson-Crook who knew Bob well from when he started at the Slade and Bob was Chief Clerk of 5 (V) RGJ and he also hopes to make it Friday.

My apologies to those of you I have forgotten.

It was a cold day at Basingstoke but a wonderful service, entirely non religious, and it came over just how much Bob meant to so many people, from those who remembered him and held him in such high regard from our time together in the army (and school as well for one or two of us) to his family who spoke so eloquently of his personal life and his love for his family.

Bob will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
