He commanded The Royals from1963-65 at a time when he was one of a crop of six Rifle Brigade officers all of whom commanded non Green Jackets battalions/regiments at the same time.
He was Chairman of the Rifle Brigade Club 1986-93.
After retiring from the Army he was Chairman of Electra Optical Division Pilkington Bros. In retirement his vineyard at his home near Reading gave him a great deal of joy. He was a Cavalry & Guards Club Member from 1963 a Committee Member from 1979 - a Trustee from 1990 to 2003 and Vice President of the Club from 2003 until 2007.
In 1958 he married Sarah Mitchell and they went on to have one son Lt Col Henry Worsley MBE, a serving officer in The Rifles and a past Commanding Officer of 2 RGJ and one daughter.
I was upset to read of this loss to the Regiment and to his son and family. I had the pleasure to be present in his company once and found him to be exceptionally easy going, just like his son.
