Sad to announce the passing of Tony "Lofty" Hands who died at his home in Spain 02:30 6th November having lost his fight with cancer, his family were with him at the end. He will be cremated in Spain in accordance with their laws, a memorial service will be held in this country tbc.

All at the Wiltshire Branch send our deepest condolences to his family, personally I have lost an old and dear friend.

Very sad to read this news.  I was given an opportunity to work with Lofty on the Bn Upgrading Cadre in Sennelager, a real decent guy and very fair to one and all.  God bless Lofty and sincere condolences to his family.

The funeral for Tony will be held on Saturday, 2-30pm,  at the Tanatorio Crematorio , Vega Baja situated on the Almoradi to Orihuela Rd , km5.6. Just past Veja Baja Hospital .

The family have requested that donations to Elche Childrens Home would be preferable to flowers.

All are welcome to attend.

From Tony and Tracy Fozzard, from 1979-2001 knew Lofty well, was a mentor when I was a JNCO, he optimized the ethos of the RGJ everything that is necessary and nothing that is not, RIP Lofty...Tony and Tracy

I worked with Tony in Taunton about 12 years ago and was shocked to hear of his passing the other day. Our thoughts are with Pat, Victoria and Richard.

RIP Tony, you did so much for the cadets of Somerset, your exercises you organised were ledgindary and the survival courses you and spanner ran inspired so many including myself, I have a lot to thank you for and I am so glad you made it to Spain as I know that was your dream, Jolly green giant you will not be forgotten, fond regards Ziggy

A memorial service for Tony (Lofty) Hands, late RGJ, will take place in the Light Division Chapel, Sir John Moore Barracks Andover Road, Winchester SO22 6NQ on Friday 28th March 2014 at 1400 hrs.
