Unfortunately I think Mr Frost has his wires crossed.

A Mrs Byrne has passed due to a RTA and is being buried in Winchester on Friday, but she was the mother of Gary Byrne, ex 2RGJ now MPGS in Warminster and nothing to do (family-wise) with Tom Byrne.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, then this should serve as a warning to people passing this sort of information without A) ensuring their facts are correct, and B) checking with the family before making this sort of information public.

Condolences to Gary and his family at this sad time.

Bill,

I think you are referring to Tom Byrne, late Major who lives in Gypsy Lane.  Tom Byrne the late RSM was way back before we all became Royal Green Jackets, and was Gary's Dad as I understand it.

Steve,

Thanks for that, and you're absolutely right.

I spoke to Gary last night and his mum who sadly passed recently was indeed the wife of the late Tom Byrne, ex RSM of 2RGJ.

Apologies to Mr Frost.

Perhaps it would have been better to have taken your own advice and checked with Richard before making your comments.
