May I offer my sincere codolences and heart felt symphathy to all of Binnsi Family and friends.Rest in peace Binnsi mate you did your duty and did it with pride. A true soldier, Brother Rfn and a friend to many. Another Icon of the regt gone but never forgotten. Don
I remember Evo we were sec comd in the recce pln, a good soldier. Really sorry to hear the bad news he went and did selection in Caterham. ... Condolences to his family and friends, ... RIP old mate.... Sorry placed in wrong location.
I had the honour to be Bins Pln Sgt when in 3rgj. He was an excellent rfn who never complained no matter what he was tasked to do. I will always remember that he wanted to go on selection so much, unfortunately I left the Bn before he got his wish but am so glad that he achieved what always wanted. RIP.
Dear Bins, what a character ..... ended up in front of the beak, and all for sharpening up his skills as a marksman on Brecon sheep before going to be selected. Had no idea he was awarded an MM, but am not in the least surprised he was given one, as a professional he was above the best.
Like most good Rfn, he was barking mad, utterly reliable, great fun and better than most ordinary people.
I had a room next to Binnsy for a short while, who could not like a character such as Bins? I was totally in awe of his dedication and professionalism and was delighted when he achieved his ambition the 2nd time around, memories of his friendship and sense of humour remain strong.
Binnsy You will be sorely missed although its been a long time since our Recce days. This is a great loss to all who had the privilage of knowing you . My thoughts are with your family at this time FOREVER GREEN
My sincere condolences to Bins family, and friends, and I'm sure you had many. I had the great privilege to serve with Bins in 3RGJ. a true Gent and a true Rifleman. And off-course barking mad. You will be greatly missed by all you came into contact with, ( apart from the enemy that is ) and like the tale of, the Gollock, the para and the missing ear, You will never be forgotten. God speed my old friend. Sorry I missed your service of thanksgiving (been on a rig last 3 weeks) But I will not miss your final send off.
Dear Sir, I am an ex soldier and medal collector. Before Bins (John Evans) died I had the privilage of buying his medals (as he had no children) and, although we never met - he was too ill to see me, we had many phone conversations in which he told me about his time in the SAS, especially the Falklands. We never got round to talking about his time in the Royal Green Jackets. I noticed from your Memoriam Board entry that you inserted a photograph - but it hasn't downloaded. Is there any chance you could send me a picture of Bins? I would be most grateful. Do you have any anecdotes or stories about him for my research? Thank you for your consideration, Mick
