Stan Branch - Vigilant PlatoonIt with with much regret that I must inform you all of the death of Stan Branch last night, (4th November). He had been suffering for some time with stomach cancer. This was recently followed by kidney failure.

Stan joined the Rifle Brigade in the early 60`s and was part of a group of West Indians who came to us at that time. His fellow travellers were Fred Ward and George Nurse that I can think of. He was very well liked and much respected by all those he came into contact with.

Our thought must go to his family at this difficult time. Another good man has gone to join the ever increasing number of absent friends. RIP Stan

Stan's son mark has provided me with the following details:

Wednesday 12th Nov at Streatham Crematorium, Rowan Road, Streatham, London SW16 at 1300 hrs.

Stan really was the coolest of the cool.
In fact, he was cool before it was cool to be cool.
He was kind and thoughtful... inviting nigs like me to dinner in his house when he really didn't need to, maybe I was lucky.
Anyone who knows Stan would tell you, he would take whatever came ........and smile, he was that confident, that secure, that confident.
You couldn't help but love Stan. A man to look up to, to emulate...and be glad to call friend.
God Bless you Stan and sleep easy.

I remember Stan from his days with Vigilant Pl, I Coy, 3RGJ.  He was indeed a very laid back guy who took things as they came.  I recall him being well respected by all who came in contact with him.  My condolences to your family.
