I regret to inform you that Bill Rawlings passed away last week, after a difficult final few weeks in hospital, he was I believe aged 94.

Bill had served in The Tower Hamlets Rifles (10 RB) also taking part in the push through Italy serving along side such notables as Capt A.J. Wilson (Jim) later to become Lt-Gen Sir James Wilson.

Bill and his lady friend Eve who is 96 and survives him were very good supporters of the Rifle Brigade Association attending the dinners in London and Winchester also our Memorial Services in Winchester.

Bills Funeral details:

Wednesday 27thMay 2009 at 2.15 p.m

At New Southgate Crematorium,

Brunswick Park Road,

New Southgate,

N11 1JJ.

 

His daughters Vicki and Julie would be pleased if you are able to join the family afterwards at the North Middlesex Golf Club, The Manor House, Friern Barnet Lane, Whetstone, London, N20 0NL.

If desired, flowers-or donations to The Rowan Ward Trust Fund-may be sent c/o W. Nodes, 37a High Street, Barnet, Hertfordshire, EN5 5UW.

No acknowledgement required unless you are going to the funeral.

Many thanks to those who have viewed the message and posts.  The funeral service yesterday was very dignified and fitting, and we were delighted to see a number of old comrades there to mark his passing.  Dad would have been very moved to have known he would be honoured this way.
