Rfn Arthur Martin who was badly injured during the Sungei Sekayam action in Borneo with 14 Platoon, D Company 2GJ in the summer of 1965 in a cross border operation during the Indonesian confrontation sadly died unexpectedly whilst on holiday in Majorca. He had last been seen at the KRRC Annual Reunion at Davies Street on Cup Fianl night this year with his wife Jennifer. A painting of the ambush by well known artist Terence Cuneo, featuring the wounded Rfn Martin with his Platoon Commander Lt Mike Robertson, who was awarded the Military Cross for the action, and Sgt Danny Hunt who was Mentioned In Desopatches, is still with the Regiment. Rfn Martins funeral will be held at Crownhill Crematorium, Milton Keynes on Wednesday July 1st at 14-00hrs. All are most welcome to attend. RIP brother Rifleman! You were injured in the Service of your Country in 1965 in a Confrontation that is largely forgotten except by those who were there (all three Green Jacket Battalions) but you will never be forgotten in our minds! My sincere condolences to family and friends!
