Steve and I joined IJLB together in 1970 and later served together in 3RGJ, Steve was a riflemans rifleman.
I was proud to know him as a friend and as a fellow rifleman, god bless you Steve, another good greenjacket who has heard the bugle call 'fire and retreat'.
we will all have a pint together at the final RV.

I last spoke to Steve at the Dedication of the Regimental Memorial and afterwards he willingly sent me some photo's which over the years I had lost, one of which I passed on to Gen.Balfour - which was his platoon's double pass at the depot, plus some of the our Company photo's from a tour in NI.

We were both ex-Jnr. Leaders and were good friends in the Bn. and in civvie street.

Whilst at the National Arboretum Steve spoke to my son and lead him on a grand tale of derring do!, which my Jack loved!!. Alas it was more artistic license than fact but none the less this was the calibre of the man, to make time for my boy. This will be my lasting memory.

God rest him.

Regards

Danny
