Chippy my old mate

We had some great laughs together in Celle in the 70's
Sue and I remember the nights we would get together in our Flat and practice
our parts on the Battalion Show  with  Mick Colton and Tony Woodley - we laughed ourselves silly

We will always remember you.

Love and best wishes to Chippy's Family

Ray and Sue Smith  (Cardiff)

When you see the name of someone you have not seen, or heard of, for over 40 years and the instant reaction is to smile at the memories, it shows he must have been a nice man.

I remember him from when I first joined HQ Company on leaving the depot and joining IRGJ.  I will never forget something he said to me with that little smile of his that used to show a lot....

"How did someone as scruffy as you ever make it through the junior leaders?"   He made looking smart seem easy whereas I always looked like a potato sack with a belt..

The last time he spoke to me was when a couple of years later I was posted back, on the staff as a LCpl  to Z Company at the IJLB, just two years after leaving there.    A big grin and a "you'll be sorry"... and he was right...

He was never a friend but always a nice bloke
