Sad to hear of the death of a Green Jacket legend such as Johnny (SAS) Cresswell!   He was a well known and well liked Rifleman and my condolences go to his family and friends at this time!

RIP SAS - you have been called to the Final Parade but you certainly will not be forgotten!

Very sad to hear the news of Johnny (SAS) Cresswell, I remember him well from when I joined Letter A Company, 1GJ as a nig Rfn in 1965, he was one of the first NCOs we were introduced to as he was on continuation training along with Lt At****er ( who now lives in Warminster), and often speaks of John.

A man who did'nt suffer fools , but trained us well and set us up ready to soldier Green Jacket style

Condolences to his family, RIP Mucker

Extremely sad to hear the death of Johnny (SAS) Cresswell, he was a Riflemans Rifleman and a good friend. As Ray Bennett stated rightly, he never talked about himself but all that served with him or knew him had many great stories to tell, he was a great character and will be missed. My condolences to his family at this time. RIP John, God Bless. Peter McLaren-Smith.

A shock to read of the passing of John SAS Cresswell, thank fully I was introduced to him by Scarf Jones in the mid 80's long after Johns military days.  However, John from then on; when we met at reunions or during the year when I came to Winchester to see my sons, was always there, rock solid, a friend of the old school ways and a wise man.  He will be greatly missed from the Winchester reunions.  Sincere condolences to Spike and the family.  I've passed the information on to Scarf who is now passing it around his contemporaries.

John, God Bless mucker, never a truer Green Jacket with impeccable soldiering credentials and boxing prowess.  It was my priviledge to have known you, give my best to all at the FRV.

Billy

I knew Johnny well from our days with 1 GJ in Penang/ Borneo. He was a great character and had a terrific dry sense of humour. A top Green Un that I was lucky enough to serve with later at Winchester. My sincere sympathies to Spike and all the family. RIP, Old Mucker. No more Parades today.

SAS Cresswell, you look tired, turn to your right, tap your sling and fall out.
We will meet again at that final RV Mucker.

This is a big shock, my condolences to Spike and Family. Johnnie [SAS] Cresswell shaped me from a 17yrs old boy into an Adult by the time I had finished training in 1965. A man who was Black and Green through and through and I was extremely proud to have had a Training NCO Cpl J Cresswell. Your duty is over John now Rest in Peace. God Bless.
