Lt Col Charles Kyrle Simond MBE, wartime London Rifle Brigade (LRB) officer and supporter of the London Club, died on Sun 11th April 2010 eight days short of his 91st birthday.

His record of Service is as follows:

1937 Gazetted 2nd Lt April 
1939 Embodied August Platoon Commander 7 platoon, A Coy 1st L.R.B.
1940 Assistant Adjutant 
1941 Captain & Adjutant. Present at the battle of Alam Halfa.
1942 M.E. Wounded at El Alamein.
1943 January G.S.O.3 18th Army Group. Tunisia - North Africa Campaign
1943 Transported to U.K. in H.M.S. Nelson as escort to four captured German Generals and their A.D.C.s
1943 Appointed Adjutant to Lt. Col Vic Turner V.C. at 2nd Motor Training Battalion (2MTB).
1943 September Appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant & Quartermaster General (AE) 21st Army Group, London.
1944 June Arrived in Europe D Day Plus seven
1944 August/September Brussels
1945 Bad Oeynhausen/ Lüneburg Heath / V.E. Day. 
Army no. 74959.
Released April 1946.


The Veterans Muster Roll for the L.R.B. Centenary Parade in 1959 shows him in No 2 Company LRB and having served from 1938 to 1946.

He was subsequently in the advertising business.

Announcement in todays (15 Apr) national papers.

Funeral and Memorial Service to be held at Chelsea Old Church, Old Church Street, London on Thursday April 22nd at 11.30am.
