some sad news I'm afraid. For those of you that knew him, Taff (Dave) Addison, ex 3 and 2 RGJ, the older of the two brothers, was the brit that was kidnapped and killed in Afghanistan over the last few days.
He was in the convoy that was ambushed and he was taken along with his interpreter. After an operation/search to rescue/recover him, his body was found.Paul (Junior) Burke is in Afghanistan and is seeing to the details of his being brought home.
I've spoken to Taff's wife and she's happy with me passing on this sad news. Although it's in the national news and his name has been publicised, the family are avoiding releasing any more details for as long as they can.I'll keep you all informed as best I can.
Just heard the sad news another Ace of a man gone, I have some brilliant memories of a kind and true friend, many condolences from Australia to the family.
Due to the sensitive nature of Taffs death, with reference to the press etc, It's felt inappropriate to publicly announce details of the funeral.
I have quite a large list of people, to whom I will send the details by email. If you were informed of Taff's death by me, then you're on that list. If not, and you'd like to be, then email Ken Ambrose, (The Webmaster) including your details and regimental number, and he will conduct some minor vetting, then pass on your details to me and I'll be in touch.
Taff will be greatly missed by anyone who ever knew him, he was a good mate and a wonderful family man. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Having just heard the sad news I felt I needed to post this on the web site as when the time is right I am sure his wife will gain strength from the messages here. Her husband, my friend was as many have already said a great bloke, generous and a good mate. A very proud Green Jacket who was highly regarded by all that served with him. I wish to join everyone else in sending my condolences to his wife and daughter as well as his two brothers.
A true 'Jacket' and great friend gone but never forgotten.
Very sad to hear about Taff. My thoughts are with his family at this time. Black and Green through and through, that's how I will remember him. Great man to have known.
Like so many of those who knew Taff I'm really shocked and saddened by his death. Having known him for so long I have wonderful memories of times spent together. He lived life to the full, and anybody who came in to contact with him benefited from knowing him. My heart goes his family at this very sad time.
A great mate, a loving family man and a proud Green Jacket
I am taffs father inlaw we thank you all for the comments in this difficult time, yet again you have proved that there is still that bond that cannot be broken even after you leave the services. Our family are bearing up but it is going to be a long struggle thanks once again.
For Mr Pilkington: If, through Bill Tyson, you can get an email address to us I'm sure many of us would like to share our memories of Taff with his family. With some of our other recent passings some of these emails have been read out at services and kept by the families as a reminder of the regimental bond we have within. Skippy shivers..
I will collate all the messages of condolence and ensure that Bill T has a copy of all those messages posted here when he attends the funeral. They can then be either read out or given to Taff`s family.
Skippy. What a brilliant idea and I see that ken A has taken it up on getting all the messages of condolences. For Mr Pilkington thanks for your message and pleased to know that there is still a bond amongs us all even though we may have served in different Bns. As the saying goes once a Green Jacket always one. I will say thios again my condolences to you all.
Absolutely shocked to here of Taff's passing I only heard of this today. Taffy u will be missed but thinking of you reminds me of those great crazy day,s of 3RGJ.
The details of the funeral are now known. As we've said, we are not publishing them here.
