It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the death of Johnny Mann who had been suffering from cancer for some time. Mambo passed away on Saturday night and his family were at his bedside.
We are invited to join many others and say a final farewell to Mambo at Lincoln Crematorium on Friday 4 February at 1510hrs. I realise that this is very short notice and many who would like to attend may not be able to do so. He would understand.
Further details will be posted as soon as they are available.
Johnny Mann, A great professional soldier, level headed, typical wonderful "scouse" sence of humour. Our condolences are with his Family and friends. From my wife Maggie, myself Paul and my late Brother Mick (Jacko) Jackson.
Just heard the news of Mambo's passing. He was my 1st Sect Cmmdr when I joined the Bn and he always took the time to look out for the Rfn in his section. Always ready to give good advice when needed and willing to help if you dropped yourself in it but were honest with him. A great bloke and true Greenjacket who will be missed by all those who knew him. My sincere condolences to the family.
Very sad to hear of Johns passing away, he was a thoroughly professional soldier, a chosen man and a pleasure to know. My sincere condolence to his family.
So sad to hear that the deadly C has taken another good man.We were in juniors at the depot together will miss him all the scousers stuck together in them days John being the leader of the pack. Condolences to all he left behind.
I met him a few years ago and he did not remember me from the battalion, but I did remember him. A true professional and someone I respected. He was pleased to hear that.
Both Jeff and I had the pleasure of having Mambo as our Section Sgt when we trained at IJLB Shornecliffe between 1975-76. He was a true Green Jacket with us all looking up to him and hoping that one day we would turn out just like he was.
Rest in Peace Mambo, our condolences go out to his family and all that knew him, a great loss
