RE: Death of Tony Ling, formerly boy soldier and Corporal 3RGJ 1978-1981
R.I.P Tony very sad news that you are now in the ReOrg, you were brave to the end, glad I caught up with you on the phone recently, my thoughts are with Jo and your family at this difficult time. Black and Green. Celer et Audax A Chosen man of 3 RGJ.
Sorry to bring it up on this board but he would have been well annoyed if I hadn't and I'm sure he'd have done it for any of us.
Tony was on the Belfast '84 tour and later came to A Coy for a while and was still there while we were in Colly in '87. I think 1978 - 1991 would be nearer the mark.
Farewell to a much loved Greenjacket of the Third Battalion.
Tony's funeral will be taking place at 11.30hrs on Thursday 23rd June 2011, at the Crematorium in Worle, Weston Super Mare. After the service a venue will be held at the Hornets RFC.

I will always remember Tony as a professional and proud Greenjacket and for his great sense of humour, he had the ability to make everybody laugh and I cannot recall a time when he did not have a smile on his face.
He was a top bloke, and I am proud to have been able to serve with him and share his friendship.
Rest easy Tringy, see you one day at the big reOrg.
Tringy never forgot a true Rifleman a true friend and lived by the motto Swift and Bold . May he Rest in Peace. He always may me laugh and it was a honour to serve with him
Tony Ling was in my Recce Pl 87-88 for the South Georgia tour. During the Bn SAAM at Hythe & Lydd we went to my parents house nearby for a Platon BBQ. The first photo below is from that evening. Tony, among others went for a swim in the pool, but played a trick on us by leaving a barbequed sausage floating on the surface of the pool. My father was horrified, thinking that it was something other than a sausage!!
He was great fun to have in the platoon, and was a typically mischievous 3RGJ Rifleman. He will be missed by all who served with him.
