Those who served in 1RGJ in Berlin in 1966/67 will be sorry to hear that (Lt) Hamish Rainey died on the 23rd September 2011 aged 65.

He will be much missed by his son Tom and daughters Bea, Samantha and Elizabeth.

A funeral service is to take place at the Oxford Crematorium, Bayswater Road, Headington OX3 9RZ on Thursday 6th October at 1.00 p.m.

to be followed by a Wake at Hamishs son Tom's, Pub in Oxford "The Punter"7 South Street, Osney Island, Oxford OX2 0BE.

Regtl synopsis:

Hamish Rainey was in Robin Eveleghs Coy in 1GJ/1RGJ in Berlin.

He was a Short Service Commission Officer (SSC) in the RGJ.

Served 15 months at the Depot as a Rfn prior to going to Mons OCS.

Commissioned from Mons OCS 8 Apr 1966.

1st Bn Apr 1966 Sept 1967.

Rifle Depot (PS) Sept 1967 1 Aug 1968.

Posted to the 1st Bn but remained attached to the Rifle Depot.

Retired from the Army 7 Apr 1969.

He was my first platoon commander,5 pl "b"coy in berlin in 1966 a well repected officer my condolence to is familiy, a sad loss...
