Death of Rifleman Dave Willie, aged 83. Formerly RB 1945-1954

I regret to announce that Dave Willie, who served in the Rifle Brigade and KRRC from 1945 to 1954 has died at home in Poole, Dorset on 20 July.

Dave was born on 23/6/1927 and was cremated on Wednesday 1/8/2012 at 15.00hrs at Poole Crematorium, draped with the Royal Green Jacket Flag and No1 Dress Hat 

 

Dave moved off to the FRV to the bugles playing High on the Hill; this was at his request.  Dave is survived by:

·        Daughter  - Jane Willie, who has been there every step of the way with him and even accompanied him to the Final Regimental Dinner held in Warrant Officer & Serjeants Mess, Rifle Depot, Peninsula Barracks in 1987;

·        Daughter - Deborah;

·        Grandchildren Curtis and Francesca  

·        Great Grandchild - Luton-James.

Dave

It was very nice to have met you last year.  I enjoyed the conversations we had discussing the past, present and future of our Regimental History but what came out of our discussion mostly was your pride of having served with best soldiers; your Commanding Officer, RSM and your fellow Rfn Muckers plus your funny exploits around the world.  You were the epitomy of what we call a 'solid true grit Rifleman'.    You can rest now Dave, and enjoy meeting up with your Muckers in the FRV, no aches or pains just you at your best.  Till we meet again Dave God Bless.  My sincere condolences to Jane and the family.  Jane, thank you for making contact with me last year it has been a priviledge and an honour to meet a superb fellow Rfn you call 'Dad' and you.
