Death of Valerie Thompson
Permalink Closed

It is with deep sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Val Thompson, the wife of WO2 "Tommo" Thompson 3RGJ and R Coy. Val passed away peacefully on Saturday 1st December surrounded by her loving family. Tommo has asked me to post this notification on the Board so that all those who knew Val are made aware of this. Tommo is apparently coping and managing well with the loving support of his children Nadine and Thomas. Val will be greatly missed and mourned by all who knew her. The funeral details as yet, are to be confirmed.

Sadie and I will remember Val with great affection, in a relationship of deep friendship that lasted throughout the years. RIP Val you will be greatly missed.

Dear Chalkie,

Please pass on our deepest sympathy to Tommy Thompson (Big Tommo) and his children.

We last saw Val at Jacko's where we had a great evening with Flapper not long before he passed away.  We understood, at the time, that Val had recovered from her illness.

We will be thinking of you all at this difficult time and I hope that the big man Tommo will find the strength to endure this terrible loss and find some solace in the bosom of his loving family and friends.

Very saddened and shocked to hear of this terrible news.     Val was a pillar of salt to Tommo Thompson who I have always called Him Mad Tommo Thompson.    And it was Her who calmed him down from those lunatic days of Celle.    She was a very staunch supporter of both the Cpls and Sgts Messes.    My condolenses to your Family mad Tommo and to Bob Such.    The reason for this is She was Bob Such Sister.       RIP Val

Dear Tommo, I am so sad to hear of your great loss, my last thoughts of yourself and Val were at my house when you gave up your time to spend an evening with my Bro "Jacko " shortly before his passing. My Maggie remembers Val so well, they talked for a long time. Our thoughts are with you. God bless Paul and Maggie Jackson

Just heard the sad news Tommo. Our sincerest condolences to you and the family.

"The pain passes, but the beauty remains".

Never a truer word as far as Val was concerned.

Served with Tommo on what I think was his last posting, at the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Armoured Corps. Tommo was the WO2 in charge of the small arms wing and I was one of the PS that worked the small arms wing with him. A great character, who provided me with a lot of support as I was a young Troop Sergeant at the time. He took me and my wife Marg under his wing and we became firm friends. We still contact each other around Xmas time. I discovered this site by accident, but am glad that I did. Very saddened by the news as Val was a saint and complimented Tommo's character (ying and yang). She will be sadly missed. Love and thoughts are with Tommo, Thomas and Nadine and their families. QS
