RAMAGE Mark Beresford

Mark Beresford Ramage, died 22nd May 2013. He was the son of the late Cecil B. Ramage MC (Barrister, actor and Liberal politician)  and the late Cathleen Nesbitt CBE (Actress of stage, film and television).

 Mark was educated at Dragon School and Eton College. During the Second World War, he was commissioned into the KRRC (LG 2 Jul 1943/2980) and shortly after being commissioned he joined the GHQ Liaison Regiment (Phantom) and served with them extensively in Normandy and NW Europe.

Mark was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and had some nerve racking experiences with US soldiers who could not understand why a Limey was where he was. Mark was one of the first on the scene of a concentration camp at Nordhausen.

 

On demob he went up to Cambridge and subsequently worked in the advertising industry in which he held a number of senior appointments. Post War he joined the Queen Victoria Rifles (QVRs) and was a member of the KRRC and RGJ Officers Club.

His funeral was at Mortlake Crematorium on Wed 5th June.

He was not married.
