HI , HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY A FRIEND FROM KENT,THAT GEORGE DANBY OF THE 3RD RGJ hAS PASSED AWAY FROM CANCER, FACTS ARE A BIT SHORT AS I ONLY
MET HIM ONCE, HE MAY HAVE HAD DEALINGS WITH THE SAS, BELIEVE HE WAS SGT OR ABOVE, LIVED IN STRATFORD,ENDED UP IN FAVERSHAM AREA, WORKED AS A GAME KEEPER TO SOME RICH BLOKE, THATS ALL I KNOW,KEPT HIMSELF TO HIMSELF, SORRY NO OTHER INFO
George lived in the flat below me and died of lung cancer on 10 June. He did keep himself to himself but was a very complex man. He was obviously an excellent marksman and stalker. He could also repair television sets and had trained and worked as a coppersmith. Since his death I have been told that he had a book published, but I do not have anymore information on that. It was while I was searching on the internet that I came across your blog. I was not in the Servicesand I hope that you do not mind me commenting.
No mate, glad some one else knew George,As you say;he was a quite one;, have not heard anything about a Book, From what he use to talk about, It would make intresting reading,Any way, thanks for replying George,
I heard today that George's funeral is on Thursday 27 June 2013 at 2.00 pm. It will be at Garden of England Crematorium, Bobbing, Sittingbourne, Kent ME9 8GZ.
This crematorium is not far from where I work so I popped along to make sure as a possible fellow ex jacket he had someone at least to see him off , and he did, not seeing any RGJ ties I departed , trust c/o Richard we might get some further details
I don't know who posted the last entry because it was anonymous. The funeral was quite well attended but I did not know anybody there other than fellow neighbours Allan and Lawrence and so I left fairly promptly afterwards and went back to work.
That evening I met a friend at a pub in Faversham and coincidentally met another who had been at the funeral and who had known George. He was Harry West who also seems to know Danny Ainsworth and had also been in the Army. I am sure that he would have more information about George. Very strangely at the funeral no mention was made of the fact that George had been in the Army.
I have still not been able to obtain any information about the book that George is said to have written. I can only assume that it was written under a different name.
