You will be sadly missed, Its was good to get together on 31st Jan 07 for a few beer, andy hope to have a few more beers when we meet up at the final re-org in the sky.
hi touchy arent we ???/ as it USED to be on page 3 and now it is not i was just wondering, and as i had previously read pages 1 & 2 ,apologies for my ignorance
So sorry to hear this sad news. A friend to all the families and a playmate to their kids. Tell me, who did"nt have Choggy come round for Sunday roast. R.I.P.
My good mate Choggie. You'll be greatly missed. The good times in the future won't be so good as the ones in the past with you there. I'll never forget you, and your memory lives on. I promise you a send off you'd be proud of mate.
The tributes from all really do show what a fantastic man Choggie was and like it has been expressed by some he will be sorely missed but ever present at reunions.
When I met him he was a PTI at the Rifle Depot I was truly amazed that he could crawl in to bed at 05.00; it wasn't tea he had been drinking either and be out on parade with the recruits and NCO's at 06.30 for a serious beasting session. The guy was committed, a true professional, he had clarity of thought knowing when the recruits required a walk and a breather. When most people would have been dying themselves.
Yes, most of us have done a mess function then in to a beast session now and again, but that was his life; regular as clock work. I do not care who you are it would not have become easier the more you done it but to Choggie he made it look a doddle.
To me he is what the ethos of the Royal Green Jackets was all about work hard play hard. A person who would not shy away from controversy telling all what he thought but always for the right reasons, a man with integrity. A truly dependable man who also had a serious, sincere and compassionate side, which was cleverly hidden, many people can vouch for that side of him.
A true gent, who loved life and lived it to the full, God Bless you Choggie, see you at the final RV mine will be a pint of lager, please be ever present at gatherings.
I was very sad to here of his death as i knew him when i worked at the homeless hostal in which he spent his last years. For a man who was in the army and seemed to have so many friends but he was always alone he was a perfect gentleman and one of the best residents we ever had after i left 2 yrs ago i still spoke to him I hope that he rests in peace and out of the horrible living conditions which he was living in it was a shame that safa could not help god bless
dont get on here much but when i do i am always drawn to the memoriam section.... how morbid! can i just say that choggie was the only pti to beast me with a hangover and a smile and a bloody fag in is mouth! think im gonna start going to reunions. nice one chog! rest in peace mate!
just a quick message to say what a great send off it was for choggie it was a beautifull day as if he was up there smiling and saying you can f*** off if you're gonna rain on my day, the service was a tribute to a great man and also a great family who wouldn't let him go without one final celebration of what a wonderful man he was so i would like to thank all those who sorted out the service
Knew Choggie from our time back at Penninsula Barracks and from 3 RGJ. It's always hard to say farewell to an old comrade, but to Choggie it's particularly sad. God bless you Choggie.
