We are so sorry to hear of Ollies passing. I also go a long way back with Ollie. Sadly we are away on the 22nd but our thoughts will be with Ollie and his family .RIP my friend.
I had the privilege of working under Ollies command as a member of his HQ Company Stores team back in 1987 - 1988. We had a special bond between us in that I always called him Colour (CSgt) he always called me "Mark". He never had a bad word for any one. I remember I made a mistake in the stores once causing Ollie to rant at me for all of 3 seconds, he then told me to put the kettle on. That was Ollie. I respected Ollie because he had exceptional man management skills. He would ask you to do something for him, you dropped tools, do the job then go back to your tools again. No questions asked, no answers given. You always knew where you stood with Ollie. Ollie, I am sorry I didnt get to say goodbye to you, but when we meet again I will have a brandy with you. My condolences go out to your family and friends. Malcolm Donnison and Tony Fowler, you should both feel proud for all the time you put in to help our friend through this very difficult time in his life. Thankyou. Mark Eustace.
My thoughts go out to Ollies family and his many friends as he passes from this life to his next. I sadly never got to know this Man on a personal level tho our paths did cross many a time on our various postings here and there. At this time of writing, I raise my glass to salute Ollie, and quietly reflect on the Man himself. From what I hear, I missed out on knowing "one of the best". A true 'Gentleman' and 'Rifleman'. You all must be very proud of him. God bless you Ollie.
My Condolenses to Ollie's family on his passing. To see so many fellow rifleman sign this board is testement enough to the "Big Yin". I am unable to attend the final parade and wake afterwards but I shall like others, raise a glass of Port {don't like Brandy} to Ollie on the day. The Great Architect of the Universe has called you Ollie and when he calls " We Obey". Till we meet again Ollie . God Bless Ginger and all the members and their families of : RGJ Association North West Branch.
I was very sorry to hear of Ollie's death on this website.
I bumped into Ollie for the the first time at the Depot in what seems like a thousand years ago now, and he always came across as a very honest, straight bloke & we managed to have a few beers together on the odd occasion.
My thoughts are with his family; I hope I can make it up to the funeral.

To his wife Sandra, his lovely Family and all his closest friends I can only offer my deepest sympathy. If I may, would like to add my own reflection on Ollie as I was sat talking to my family only last week reflecting on the days I was fitter and how Ollie encouraged me to enter every event in the Battalion Athletics Day in Celle. I earnt about 10 points that day just for entering (came last or nearly last in everything) and remember Ollie telling me how much that counted towards the team. He explained that entering one race and coming first got you 10 points, so I was like a champion for what I had done that day. Ollie me legs are still hurting. Blow me you conned me the following year in Colchester as well! You were a man that I liked from the day I met you, you kept many things to yourself and simply got on with life, your recent illness being another example. I will miss you and remember you well. God bless you Ollie and thank you for being a brother Rifleman to me.
It is always very sad to hear, of a lost friend and also one who is respected by so many. My deepest and sincere, condolences to Sandra and the family. The man with big smile.

i was sad to hear about the passing of ollie brown,he was a truely honest and likeable man.i was a rfn in the same plt as him for a couple of years,he always had time to listen to you and was always fair.he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.my sympathies go out to his family at this sad time.
Rest in peace Ollie. Although we were not in personal contact over the last 30 years, I can see your grin even now, I have no doubt that the grin was there even after occasions when I may have expressed a slight criticism of your voice procedure! But you never let minor problems get you down and went on to be a personality who will be remembered for many more years. Your family can be truly proud of a great character, a succesful Rifleman, and a friend to many.
It was with sadness that I recently heard of the passing of "Ollie" Brown, my sincere condolence to his family.
Thinking back over the years I still retain memories of his quick wit, strength of character and of course his radiant smile. He was a perceptive man and a true Rifleman.
