To the Riflemen of the Royal Green Jackets and their families:

Although my fathers death was previously announced in this website some of the messages that were intended for my family have been edited and/or deleted.

Therefore, with the greatest humility and for the sake of myself and my family I must announce the death again on this separate blog to provide an opportunity for anyone who might have messages of condolence for myself, my brother or my Mum to pass them along.

The messages that we had the opportunity to read meant so very much to us at this difficult time and I was devastated to find that they are gone forever.

Therefore, It is with the deepest regret that I announce the death of my Dad, Oliver Brown.  He was a proud Green Jacket and served his country with honor and distinction.  He leaves behind two loving families:

My darling mother (Marion).  Married to Dad for over 32 years. A son and a daughter (James and Mellinda) and two grandchildren (Kiara, 8 and Thea, 6).

He also leaves his wife Sandra and her children (Victoria, Andrew,
Michael and Nathan).

Dad had battled cancer for over two years and after a long battle his body finally gave up at the age of 57.  My Dad slipped away peacefully it is comforting to know he is no longer in any pain.

I grew up with the Green Jackets and I feel that you are all my family.  It was lovely to see so many of you at the funeral.  Thank you so much for your condolences and your memories of my Dad.

Mellinda, All,

We only just today learned of dear Ollie and are deeply saddened. I was away during most of October, in Canada of all places, and due to my now infrequent visits to the site, missed all mention of his passing and funeral, which I am truly saddened to have missed.

Please accept our apologies and be assured that he was held in nothing but the highest regard here. A good friend and a loyal comrade, who was prepared to "put it on the line" when you asked him, regardless of the rank divides.

Another name to be thought of at this afternoons remembrance parade here in Warminster.

RIP Ollie.

It's been 5 years since my Dad passed away. I continue to hope that it was peacful. I think about him often and hope that he is peaceful. In the years since he died several riflemen have reached out to me to offer condolences. Thank you for that. My father taught me my greatest lessons. Something for which I continue to be grateful. Dad miw has another granddaughter - soon to reach her 4th birthday. Grace will never know you, but she will benefit from your lessons. Rest in peace.
