Dear Pat and all of those left behind, You have lost a great husband son, father and grandfather. I'm sure you will all be comforted by the many many messeges of condolence posted on this board. Our Bert was and will remain a LEGENDof the Royal Green Jackets for many years after we have all joined him. His photographic archives we all hope will remain a part of the RGJ Association and I for one will be asking for it to be discussed at the next meeting of the RGJ Association Committee on the 14th November. Words {at this time } do not come easy to me. I am greatful that I managed to say Tara Mucker to OUR Bert just before he tapped his sling. God Bless him and may you all take comfort through all these kind words sent by all Bert's Muckers some he new and some that only new Bert for his Photo's. He touched us all. Port WILL be drunk at the wake so I hope they have lots in stock {Billy }. Finally his imortally will also be assured by the date chosen for his final parade, it is of course the beging of the same weekend we all remember all that have gone before us. Good Bye till we meet again Mucker. Ginger Dixon XXX

Dear Pat and Family, Birgit and I were very saddened to hear of Berts death very recently. Not only will he be missed by you and the family but also by the hundreds of RIFLEMEN that knew him as well.
Bert never actually got to meet you face to face, had the odd occasion to chat to you,via e-mail, and even on this mode of communication, your enthusiasm and dedication shone through. You will be greatly missed by all. My condolences to your family.
My Thoughts are with Pat and the Rest of Bert's extended family, I count, of course, all of us who knew Bert as family, for that is how we view him, a true mucker, and brother. Bert leaves a history of our young lives, lived in friendship and comradeship within the Regiment, documented forever in film and I thank him for his energy, and commitment, leaving a legacy which will be unsurpassed.
Very sorry to hear of Berts death. Billy Hughs has kept me informed of Berts illness. My thoughts go to his wife and family. REST IN PEACE MUCKER. BATTLER

God bless you Bert. What you have done for us with your photos cannot be understated. Particularly, for many of us who have no photographic record from those days when we were young men. You are an inspiration to us all. A true legend. My sincerest condolences to Pat and family.
i recently took part in the great north run mainly for help for heroes but i had to get a place through cancer research uk which meant the first £400 i raised would go to them. i did not know Bert personally but the fact he was a fellow green jacket and the timing of this payment. i will not make the donation in my name but in the name of Bert Henshaw Royal Green Jacket. condolences to Berts family. BUTS
It is a great shame that Burt has been taken from the RGJ family. I would like to send my sincere condolences to his Wife and family. I would also like to thank Billy Hughes for all his help with Bert + anyone else who helped bert towards the end of his life.
I will miss you so much Corporal. we were friends from 16 years of age when you were a butcher boy making deliveries on your bike. Then a regular at the family pub (The Albion). Later you joined the army and brought your mates home for "stay behinds". Our friendship continued through the usual milestones of weddings, funerals and christenings. I will miss you and Pat coming to Liverpool every year for Christmas shopping, and your Saturday late night phone calls while waiting for your Indian to be delivered, but most of all I will miss my old friend "Butch". Good night God Bless Corporal. Sorry I can't be with you at the end mate, but glad we got the chance to say our last goodbye.
