I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Colin.

I remember Colin from my time as a junior infantryman at JIW Preston he was my platoon sergeant for two years, He had time for all of the personnel in the platoon no matter what regiment they were he never seemed to get upset if the lads in the platoon messed up he would always say it was part of a learning curve.

As someone has already said he was a gentle giant how true that was.

My condolences to colin's family he will never be forgotten.

Hello Colin thank you for your kind wishes and as others have said he was a gentle giant. I do remember you and have been in touch with bll hankin too. Colin was told two years ago that he had parkinsons and he was coping well we had retired and were living on a narrowboat on the canals and really enjoying life. then he got bowel and liver cancer and eleven monthes later sadly died. my best wishes to you Pat

Colin was indeed a gentle giant.  We served together in the 2nd Battalion and in JIW Preston where of all things he became a 'heavy drill' drill Instructor and got into Adventure Training.  We both ended up in the APTC where he was always a very well respected guy.  RIP Colin
