Repatriation Ceremony at RAF Lyneham
The deceased usually arrive by RAF C-17 at approx 1100hrs local. The aircraft, weather permitting, will usually conduct a flypast over the Terminal building and land at approx 1105hrs. At approx 1200hrs, having de-flared, it will taxi to a position in front of the Terminal where family members of the deceased and the official representative and dignitaries observe the ceremony. The bearer party transfers the coffin(s) into the hearse(s) between the aircraft and the Terminal. The Last Post is sounded when the Bearer Party exit the C-17 with the coffin (s) and Reveille is sounded as the hearse(s) move off to the base Chapel of Rest. The family may elect to spend a short time alone with the deceased in the Chapel of Rest at.
