THE FUNERAL OF RIFLEMAN JAMES BROWN - 3 RIFLES

1.         Background.   Rfn James Brown was killed on operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 15 Dec 2009.  There will be a full military funeral and burial services. 

2.         Rfn Brown.  Rfn Brown, a single man, was born in Farnborough Hospital, Orpington, Kent, on 9 Jan 1991. He joined the Army in 2009, completing initial training at the Infantry Training Centre, Catterick before joining 3 RIFLES in Oct 2009.  He deployed to Op HERRICK 11 as a battle casualty replacement on 22 Nov 2009 where he joined B Coy within 3 RIFLES BG(N).

3.         The military funeral service will take place at St Barnabas Church, Rushet Road, St Pauls Cray, Orpington BR5 2PU (01689 825852) at 1200hrs on Thu 14 Jan 2010 followed by a military burial at St Lukes Cemetery, Magpie Hall Lane, Southborough, Bromley BR2 8ER.

4.         The bearer party will be provided by Rear Ops 3 Rifles

5.         Members of the Regimental Associations of the forming regiments of The Rifles are welcome attend this farewell to a fellow Rifleman.
