Norman Bateman formerly 1RGJ died on 24th November.
His widow wishes members who may have known Norman to be made aware that the funeral service will be held at 15.30hrs on Thursday 9th December at Chesterfield Crematorium.
Norman served in 1st Bn for 14 years. Yet not one entry has been posted on here. Could it be that we knew him by another name or nickname. Are any other details of Norman's service history known? RIP Norman.
RIP Norman. I left 1 RGJ in the summer of 1976 so our paths may have crossed so many faces and names the old memory tends to fog a bit after all these years. Rest in peace brother rifleman. Swift and Bold.
I served from 1974 - 1993, unfortunately I did not get to 1 RGJ until 1990, so our paths never crossed I think.
But it is very sad that Norman's passing seems to have gone un-noticed, he was a fellow Rifleman in the greatest family Regiment, and as such, whilst I personally did not know him, I send my condolences to his family at this time.
I saw this the day it was entered, and thought I recognised the name from 1RGJ. As I wasn't sure at the time, I waited to see if anyone else was going to write something which would help identify him better, which Coy etc..
RIP Norman, you joined the same year as I did, my sincere sympathy to his nearest and dearest.
