Sleep well Dougie. A great bloke a great RIFLEMAN. Stand easy your duty is done brother RIFLEMAN. Stand tall on that hill. See you in the FRV. My thoughts are with your loved ones.
A very sad day. Dougie was one of those characters who was larger than life and the best CSM I ever had the pleasure to serve with. Who in B Coy will forget opting to see Doug or go in front of the OC for punishment!!! Off to that final RV mate.......my thoughts are with your family at this time
I have like many have only splendid memories of Dougie, from being a young Rifleman babysitting , to practical advice & support that he freely gave , certainly I did not expect to see his name here, my sincere sympathy & thoughts to Jackie and all the family ,
Dad spoke fondly of you during his last few days after finding out about your illness. Enjoy your beers with Dad, I know you'll both be up there now, in charge.

I served with Dougie as a young Riflman in Penang / Borneo / Germany and have known him for over 40 years. He was a good Rifleman and a Green Jacket always. He will be greatly missed in the Green Jacket world, it was a privilege to have known and served with you mate. R.I.P. Dougie, condolences to his wife and family.
Our deepest sympathies to Dougies family at this sad time from all who knew him in Wiltshire. Personally he was a larger than life character with a brilliant sense of humour and a friend. Do not despair imagine the FRV now with both Dougie and Dave Cormack sat there it will be well sorted.
Gutted is all I can say,my regards to all his family and friends. He was a great man who always seemed to be living on the edge, having done and seen more than any of us put together, its as if it was just another day to Duggy .You will be missed my friend more than I can say.I hope I wont see you too soon but when we meet we will crack open a bottle.Goodbye.
I was so sad to hear of Dougie's death. Dougie was my b company CSM in Crossmaglen, South Armagh and in Middletown in North Armagh. He was the best CSM that I ever met in the Royal Green Jackets. He was humourous, a rifleman's rifleman. He was the best of the best. My condolences to his family and friends, as somebody else said, he was a star.
RIP my friend. I have known you for many years and have always enjoted your enthusiasm in everything that you have attempted. Condolences to your family
My sincerest condolances to Dougie's Family and close friends at this time on their sad loss. I too met Dougie for the first time when I served with 4RGJ C Coy in London and Dougie was a PSAO with F Coy. Wonderful character and a true Green Jacket with a wicked sense of humour. RIP Dougie. You will be sadly missed.
Remember him making me so welcome to B Coy 2RGJ together with the Redding brothers!!, he was just like your Dad and always made you laugh, he chased Laszlo Nagy around Middletown one day and would have killed him if he caught him, he was a legend.
Very sad to hear of the passing of Douggie Kearl,He was a true Rifleman. He helped me a lot when I was a gobby Lance jack, and I have only fond memories of him. No doubt he will already have 'sorted out'a few things with Peter on the gate.
A RGJ Icon hasnt gone, for he has only just moved on to the other side as the advance party, waiting for the rest of us RGJ to re org, as we always do.
A fantastic man, a fantastic leader and a fantastic soldier

Another top soldier of the old KRRC/2RGJ moves on to join the ranks of the guys who shaped 2RGJ in the 60's and me, you will be truly missed mate. My sincere regards to all Dougie's family.
I served as signals cpl with Bcoy 2RGJ in XMG and spent a lot of time with Dougie mostly in the OPS room,he was a top bloke and a great CSM who always put the men first and would go out of his way to make the life of every rifleman as good as was possibble in a grot hole like XMG would allow. I wish i could have known him longer but the memories i have of him are only good ones.RIP
I would like to take the opportunity on behalf of my sister Vanessa and myself to say a huge thankyou to all those who attended my fathers funeral yesterday. It was heart warming to see so many friends, and old and bold rifleman in attendance who had travelled from afar to say their farewells. Yor kind words and tributes helped us in part to deal with this sad occassion. So from one still serving Green Jacket to you all - Thankyou.
