Earlier today an old soldier passed away peacefully in his bed at a service charity nursing home in Scotland.   His name was Roy Harding and he was 86 years of age.   Roy served with the Dorset Regiment (1 Rifles) and landed with his battalion on Gold Beach 6 June 1944.   His service papers show that he suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg (leg amputated), gunshot wound to his right leg, gunshot wound to his left arm and gunshot wound to the chest - he was 20years of age.    Rest in peace old man.
