3 RGJ had more than it's fare share of born commedians and iconic Riflemen, Tringy was one of them. A very sad loss to those he left behind and a reminder to all of us how lucky we were to have served together in what can only be described as the best battalion in The British Army.
For those that are able to attend the funeral, don't be surprised if you see a note stuck on the end of the coffin saying "you can let me out now!"
Just heard the news from Skippy Shivers. So sad.Best wishes to your family mate. We had some laughs on South Georgia in the room we shared.Remember Simmos head swelling up!I don't ever think I have laughed so much as when watching you trying to tatoo yourself "down there"!.I wonder if you ever finished that spider!GOD BLESS YOU MATE. Spud.
RIP Tringy. Yet another chosen man from the glorious 3rd gone to the re-org. My sincere condolences to all Tony's family and friends. Sleep well mate "high on that hill".
Had the pleasure of knowing Tony from when he was B coy 3RGJ. A top bloke with a great sense of humour, typically one of the lads. It's a very sad loss, sincere condolences to jo and family
didnt really know tony as well as the guys on here, but i did a fair bit of his tattooing down in gib,and yes,his sense of humour and stoicism made him unforgettable.been wondering what became of him just lately so i googled his name/regiment and that led me here.sad news indeed and a great loss to all who knew and loved him. rest in peace mate.
Couldn't believe it when I read this sad news. Remember Tring with the biggest pair of DM boots in the world in the cookhouse in Cambridge and later in Germany with Recce.
Tringy...the tatoos, the wicked, quick sense of humour..the tour of south georgia and Recce 3RGJ ...funny memories..of a top squaddie..So sad to hear the news..and late too. My Condolances to all your family...
So sorry to hear the sad news. I was Tony's 432 driver for one of the exercises while in Celle in 86. I remember an army photographer taking a photo of Tony and I on the 432, due to someone writing " The Terminator" in black marker pen below the drivers hatch. Great photo, unfortunatly I do not have it anymore.
It was a pleasure to have know Tony. RIP mate. Deepest condolences to Tony's Family.
The legend of lingy will forever live on, one of the funniest Rifleman I've ever had the privilege to serve with. Tony was a stereotypical 3RGJ man and will always be remembered for his hilarious exploits and care free attitude. A real loss to our Black and Green family. Swift and bold Tony Ling. My heart felt thoughts go to Tonys family.
