Only just read the news of Ron's death so belated condolences to his family. I knew him well in the 1st Bn and in fact stayed with his family in Banbury when we came back from Malaysia in early '65. Wonderful hospitality tho' Ron's dad was scathing about my cack-handedness at darts, bar billards, shove ha'penny etc. I'd always hoped to meet up again. Good luck in the new posting Ron. Dick.
I knew the Sarg.when we served in 3R.G.J.One of my many memories of Ron was turning up for duty late on a monday morning. He told me everything was fine "I mean your only half an hour late"he said. Then marched me up to the C.O.office and had me charged.£30 lighter I returned to duty where Ron "asked"me to make him a cup of tea, while he sat at his desk laughing. Many years I laughed as well.R.I.P, Sarg.
