Death of Sgt Dennis Reading - In Pensioner Royal Hospital Chelsea
Permalink Closed

Sgt Denis Reading Late RB died in Chelsea & Westminster Hospital on 6 March. See Record of Service HERE.

He had been an In-Pensioner in The Royal Hospital Chelsea since Oct 1996.

Although confined to the infirmary in the last couple of years he was always spritely and alert and interested in the Army and what the new regiment was getting up to.

He was also intensely grateful for the annual Regimental Christmas Grant from the Riflemens Aid Society and latterly The Rifles Benevolence Trust.

He was intensely proud of his service with the RB and with having been with and served Gen Sir Thomas Pearson.

His kit was in absolute superb order and his medals were gleaming on his In-Pensioners Frock Coat.

He enjoyed his modern room in the new infirmary which was light, with its own TV and wet-room and which had a view over the RH vegetable garden.

He always expressed his appreciation for everything that was done for him by the RH and its staff.

His funeral will be on 27 March 2012 at 14:00hrs in the All Saints Chapel (Infirmary Chapel), Royal Hospital Chelsea, Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, SW3 4SR

Those wishing to attend the funeral service are requested to advise the RH Sgt Maj rappleby@chelsea-pensioners.org.uk with copy to the London Office of The Rifles London@the-rifles.co.uk

Lt Col J-D von Merveldt will represent The Rifles at the funeral
