What sad news. Ron was my sirst Platoon Sgt when I joined Junior Rifleman's company in Winchester {Pen Bks} back in 1966. He Set me up on my career in the RGJ. What a lovely and fair man he was. I am minded of a story from those days. We where on muster parade one morning {I was a nig} The senior boys had taken me out on the town to show me which pubs we could get served in. Needless to say I was carried back to camp. So back to the muster parade. I was not feeling to well , As Ron and the CSM approached me I projectile vomited. Well I was doubled to the guard room to be locked up. As a young kid then I was frightened to death. Ron left me in there for only 1 hour and came and got me out. He had a fatherly word affterwoods about evils of drinking {didn't work}
God bless you Ron Mucker See you High on that Hill. {not to soon though eh}
Sad news of a good man, I will put Ron's name in the KRRC Journal Roll of Honour that will be published in March 2013. Sincere Condolences from all members of the KRRC Assn. Could the family please contact me at krrcassn@hotmail.com or by mobile on 07770 2236937 so that I can send a copy of the Journal once published?
So sorry to hear of Ron's death. Fond memories of him as my Platoon Sergeant in Wuppertal in 1959 and in C Coy's football team. Not very good at football but made up with his lack of skill with enthusiasm and encouragement to us youngsters.
Evergreen Dick Hayes.

RE: Death of C/Sgt R J Hastie RGJ-KRRC with Cremation details
Dear Pauline & Family, I have just found out, that of your Dad's sad passing. I am sorry to have heard this late ..
Your dad, was one of a few within the Batt, was always "A Fair & Understanding Man / Sgt, (which you know so well), in "C Coy back in the 60's onwards, his true understanding of us lads (Rfn) back then, he was a true blue, in our eye's.
We had a standing Joke with each other, when I was cutting his hair, (in some real strange pleces), that I would arrange, a hair transplant for him back in Uk,
