We regret to announce the sudden death of Danny Finn.


The funeral of Danny Finn will take place on Tuesday 10th Jan at 12 noon leaving from the family home at 44 Holly Trees, Bar Hill, Cambridge, to proceed to Bar Hill Church and then on to Cambridge City Crematorium, which is located on the A14 Northbound.
 
Mary has kindly asked for family flowers only with any donations being made to the British Lung Foundation.
 
If possible regimental blazers and ties would be appreciated.

Very sad news to hear that another I Con has sadly passed away.


I can always remember Danny (Findle) Finn was always very proud to be Ex RB and 3 RGJ and  to have worn both the RB and Green Jacket Cap Badges.


If you are up there now Danny and have met up with all the other 3 RGJ who have sadly passed away than make sure you teach them the Morse Code  and that you are in C/S 9 vehicle like you always were. And all the others that you taught about signaling.


RIP and my condolences to to his Family.

The Passing Away Of Danny Finn



 



As previously announced it is with regret that I have to inform you of the passing away of an old friend and a friend of many of you ex RB's, Green Jackets and Royal Green Jackets.



Danny passed away suddenly and peacefully on the morning of Friday 23rd December.



Danny's wife Mary has kindly given her permission for this sad publication and funeral details will be announced when known.

Well the mould really has been well and truly smashed now, what a sad sad loss of a really lovely man and a Greenjacket through and through. A privilege to have known and worked with him, a great loss to his personal and regimental family.

I am Deborah Finn, Danny Finn's daughter.


Thank you so so much for the lovely words that you all have written about my dad, they have been a great comfort to us at this very sad time.


It is very nice to know that dad will not just be missed by us his family, but by friends he knew during his time in the army, people who liked and respected him very much.


My dad was a very modest man, but I know secretly he would have been chuffed to bits and very proud to read the comments that have been written by you all.


We , were always very proud of our dad and we respected him immensely and with everyone taking a little bit of their time to pay their respects has made us even prouder.

Danny was a great friend of mine in our wild youth. Circumstances meant we drifted apart.  You don't have to always be around somebody to love and respect them. I shall remember the happier times.  He was a fine man, better than I.  Respect to him and condolences to Mary and his family,

Sad news indeed. I knew Danny well, and worked alongside him for a couple of years in Sawston, and I knew him and was signal platoon in the battalion with him.


A dignified man, best referred to as " a genuine" bloke. Sadly missed.

When I joined The Rifle Brigade in Jan 1965 I was posted to Ccoy 11PL, Danny was one of the first people I met along with Dicky Pool & geordie Kelly.They left a very lasting impression with me, like a silver thread that has woven through my life.I have very fond memories of both Mary & Danny in Berlin & like Danny I spent a lot of time in the signal pl, although like most of us we lost contact over the years, I still think of him with great fondnes.Mary my greatest sympathy go out to you & your family at this very sad time.I know he was a close friend of Geof Morrish who ive left a message with, unfortunatley he is working in Jamaica until March this year I know both Pam & him will be very sad at the very sad news.I like many RFN will be there on Tuesday to pay my respects.

I first knew Danny when he started out in the Signal platoon of 3GJ/RB in Wuppertal around 1960. As he worked his way through the difficult tasks of the Signals world he became a friend who I will never forget. When we got to Borneo in 1965 Danny became my 'Jungle Buddy' and we did all of the signals communications for the special ops together. He watched over me and I know he kept me safe while I was doing my job. It is hard for me to believe that he has gone and I feel that our world is a sader place for his passing. My condolences to his family at what must be a very sad time for then. Rest In Peace my friend.

Jim O'shea has just passed on the sad news to me re Danny. we had many ups and downs but we remained friends,and i have many memories of Danny . Unfortuantly i shall be working but my thoughts will be with Mary and family- and indeed all of you fellow rfn on the sad day.

I've always held fond memories of Danny and his family remembering when He and Mary looked after me in Berlin by inviting me to dinner whilst Jan was still in England and also in Sennelager when we used to go out for a meal and drink, rear party was tough!!!! .  A great Guy and who will be sadly missed by all.    Our heartfelt Condolences to Mary and the Family. from

My humble apolgies to every one concerned who is attending Danny Finn funeral.  I was hoping to make it and to pay my respects but unfortunately I can't as through work commintments.


Danny I shall say a silent Prayer and spend Two Minutes of my time and raise a Glass as I shall always remmeber you as being a True and True, Honest and a very Staunch RB and a Royal Green Jacket who wore those Badges with Pride and Honour.

On tuesday 10.1.06 was the funeral of my husband Danny Finn and I was delighted and so very proud that so many of his friends from  the Rifle Brigade/ Royal greenjackets came to say their final goodbye.Most of you travelled a long distance , and I thank you for that. Its a comfort to know that He was respected, as so many people said such nice things about Him.My sincere thanks go to George Humphrey,Josie  Jim Mulvaney,Frank Moss,Tom and Jenny Evans, Jim Hitches ,Del Elmsley,Mick Mizon,Malcom Donnison,Bob Such, Fred Hawkins,Bill Taylor, Ann and Mick Murphy, Brian Ewin,Taffy Thomas, Larry Lamb and  Barry
