Much of which I would say about Ken has already been said on previous posts, on a web he created which bought so many together which I know he was very proud of. I fond memories of Ken, we first met when I joined the 3rd Battlion in the 60s. A great man who will be sadly missed by all in the Green Jacket family for being a great Rifleman and gentleman.
I am very saddenend to here of the death of Ken, it was through him with the R.G.J internet site that i was able to get in touch again. He is a smashing person
So sad to hear of Ken,s passing. I knew Ken for 46 years going back to Borneo 1966 in 3GJ (RB) who guided me as a young nig. A true Green Jacket and gentle giant.

sorry to hear of Kens death he was a great guy and a true jacket He will be sadly missed . Our thoughts are with the family at this time
It was with great sadness that I read about Ken's passing. I have many great memories of our service together, as many of us do. More laterly, I looked foward to Ken's emails to bring a daily dose of humour.
An outstanding Green Jacket.
Our lives are richer for knowing Ken.
Like everyone else we are shattered by the news. I had drifted away from the RGJ Family for some years, and it was Ken , (and Pete Uden), who re-established my contacts and kept me up to date with Association news, etc, though many miles away.
As others have said, we are all in debt to Ken for the hard work, dedication, and time he spent providing such an excellent service to us. Thank you.
To Penny, and the family, we send sincere condolences. To Ken, RIP.
Ken was quite animated when we spoke earlier this week about some Journal adverts. A man who was generous with his time and was always positive and constructive with the presentation of the Journal - "if we are going to do it, lets do it good".
Sorry to hear about the passing on of Ken. I only knew him on the internet. We had many a conversation about the RGJA system and he put me right on many a problem I had making contact from him in Spain.
God bless him and his family.
Thank you for all you done for myself and many others of the Regiment - it is people like him that make the Regiment what it is and his expertise will remain with us forever.

Death of C/Sgt Ken Ambrose MID - Ex 3GJ 3RGJ 1RGJ- Founder of the RGJRA Website. - Funeral Arrangements Added.
I first met Ken in 1RGJ back in the early seventies, when he was a feared and respected Sergeant of B Coy in Celle.
We were in Sennelager playing wargames, I was with A coy and we were playing the bandits and B coy were the goodies.
There I was with my trusty SLR with BFA 'shooting' any B coy wallahs that I saw, when all of a sudden this giant of a man came out of the bushes with a couple of his right hand men, saw me and screamed 'get that little bas****'.
I knew who it was straightaway and swung my rifle round to fire a blank at him and the trigger just went 'click' I had forgotten to **** it! as he loomed towards me I just shouted out 'Bang! and legged it ...They chased me for best part of 20 minutes, but I knew what would happen if Sgt Ambrose got hold of me! like so in Battalion he would not mess around getting you marched into the Coy Office..it would be sorted out behind the gym, a quick dig in the jaw or gut and matter was finished with.
We met up again years later, just after Ken had launched the first Greenjacket site, I started by repairing and maintainng his car, whilst I was living with my former girlfriend. we became good mates, and he and Penny used to come and visit me quite regulary, as we did not live that far apart.
When Ken decided he was going to semi retire, as he needed time to get other items sorted with the site, he asked me if I would come aboard and help the team and I have assisted since, however I must admit that I did wind Ken up in the early days with Mcflabb and a few of the other names, like swivel, as we all used multi names and it did make him blow a gasget at times...but he took it all in good stead..he used to say that nobody unless you were a greenjacket..understood greenjac ket humour..
I miss him already, as I could always phone him if I needed to sort something out, or just have a natter...he would always phone me and check to see if I was Ok, or to invite me over for a curry which was Penny's forte...
There is going to be a great big void now, as this gentle giant taught me alot, and placed me in a position of respect with the boys in green, who I will continue to help.
We will as a team carry on Kens wishes.
Rest in Peace Ken.

Thanks Ken for all your hard work on behalf of the Regiment and for your personal assistance a time or two. I am certain your efforts are very much appreciated by Greenjackets everywhere. May you Rest In Peace
Sad to hear the new,s of Ken He will be sadly missed by me , he has been so help full in helping me set up the South East Kent Branch of the Association that we have expressed our thanks on the forth coming RGJA news letter He will be missed All the very best to Penny and his family Glenn Ternent
Although Penny range me on Thursday morning to tell me of Ken's death it has really been tonight that it has really hit me having come home from work had my dinner in the expectation of our weekly phone call to catch up things association. Suddenly there is a gap in my life which can not be filled.
Although I knew Ken in the Battalion it was only slightly, I knew his reputation as a leader more than anything else, it was only many years later when I was building my own website that I approached Ken for advice and we agreed to meet at the Oxford reunion where I spent a very pleasant hour chatting to him. Out of that meeting grew a firm friendship and I am proud to have known him and call him my friend, life will not be the same without Ken.
A year after Ken started the website he invited me to join him as his deputy and together with first my older brother Keith then Mark Adams we formed the website team and under Ken's leadership we developed the website further still. As Mark has said we did enjoy winding Ken up a bit with strange posters posting even stranger postings, I am sure he worked out who most of them were from but let us continue our games anywsy. Out of a posting some years ago he even got his own nick name of Obi-one-Ken-nobi.
The association today is stronger for the time and effort that Ken put in to it, the website he first developed, the Ezine, his development of Swift and Bold post 2007, the management of the RGJ Database not to mention the scores of people he has given advice to freely on a wide range of subjects. Will all this hard work continue? Of course it will, Ken had the foresight to ensure that it would continue and it will or as I said in an email to the rest of the website members there will be a few of us marking time outside his door at the final RV.
RIP Ken, a fine soldier, a true green jacket and a damn good friend.
