I am very sad to announce the death of Bill who died this morning Thursday 1st August after a short illness. His funeral will take place on Friday 9th August at 1.45pm at St Nicholas Church, Blundellsands, Liverpool L23 6TS.
Bill Williams died aged 83 on 1 Aug 2013 at the University Hospital Aintree, Liverpoolthe city of his birth and where he spent his retirement and, where as anyone who knew him will know, his beloved football team Liverpool FC live and of which he was a life-long supporter.
Bill, or Big Bill, as he was always known to all Green Jackets served with distinction in the Ranks of the KRRC/2GJ and latterly as a Commissioned Officer in 2RGJ.
After leaving Waterloo Grammar School in Liverpool aged 18 in 1947 he joined the Army and rose to be the RSM of the Rifles Depot (1964 to 1967 - CO Lt Col David Stileman, Adjt Capt Tony Berry & Div Col Col Giles Mills) when HM The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, reviewed The Royal Green Jackets in July 1967 at St Cross. Shortly afterwards Bill was commissioned and came out to join 2 RGJ in Oxford Barracks, Münster, Germany.
Bill was an impressive man of great physical stature and high standards.

So very sad to read of the passing of such a character who I knew when I was a Medic at the Rifle Depot from 1965 to 1967! A Big Man with a huge presence! My sincere condolences go to his family and friends! RIP Mucker!
