We are sad to announce the death of John Beerman on Saturday 12th October at Witney Community Hospital.
Ex-Major John, who lived in Witney, was Secretary and Treasurer of the 43rd and 52nd Old Comrades Association at Slade Park Barracks from around 2000 until 2005.
The funeral will be at Oxford Crematorium on Wednesday 23rd October at 2.15pm, with a gathering and refreshments afterwards at Edward Brooks Barracks.
I never served with John but got to know him through my work with the association, a thoroughly nice person who was always ready to chat and offer advise. RIP John, my condlolences to his family.
Did nearly all of my 22 year service with John and I can't beleive that he has died. One of the best boxers the Green Jackets had and I am sure that he will be sadly missed. A very private person who was a nice guy. Anne I send you my condolences at this very sad time.
A thoroughly good genuine Green Jacket who said it as it was and how it was going to be. Really helpful and always willing to offer advice. A hard taskmaster firm but fair.( Remember his Orienteering Course up in The Troodos ?) He was also an excellent QM in the TA. He will be sadly missed. My sincerest condolences to John's Family on their loss. RIP
I knew John when we were both young boxers of the Enterprise ABC in Tottenham many many years ago. John was a bit older than me so I looked up to him as a boxer and remember when he joined the army I was sorry to see him leave. It was pure coincidence that I joined the same Regt as him ( I didnt know he had joined the RGJ ) so you can imagine how surprised I was when I met him. We often used to have a chat about our former days.
