So sorry and sad to hear of Ginger's passing away. I served many years alongside Ginger in 1RGJ and got to know him well. When he was on the RP's, I spent my early years trying to avoid him and later, had much contact with him in the Serjeants Mess, particularly in Hong Kong.  His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did and he could be relied upon in every kind of situation.  He was a Chosen Man through and through and a stalwart of 1RGJ. Gone, but not forgotten. My thoughts and condolences are with his family. I will try to attend the funeral.

I knew Ginge quite well, he was tough cooky with a wicked sense of humour his infectious smile was always on his face.

My sincere condolences to Micks family at this loss.  Another outstanding Rifleman leaves us to join the many already departed. I first met him when I joined the 1st Bn in Celle 1970 and he left a lasting impression of what being a Rifleman was all about. Always remembered.

Rest well and easy among the other `Chosen men`Mick. 

Ginger our friend, know him a long time, like so many of our departed Riflemen he will be missed by all.

                                    On the lost of a good mate and friend, i joined the Battalion of the CHOSEN MAN in hong kong, from the depot in winchester and i can say its was people like ginger that open my eyes to the real life within the regiment. i'm also sorry i will not beable to attend the  Funeral which in away i'm glad as my late time with ginger was last year march past which we both injoyed.

Very sad occasion today at Basingstoke as about 20 of us from the Regiment, paid our last respects to Ginger, along with his family. Ginger was 23 years a Greenjacket and we are the poorer for his passing.

He will be sadly missed by his family and it was clear at the service that he was a much loved Grandad. 

 If there is any comfort to be taken from a comrades passing, it is perhaps in this: The knowledge that he was at the centre of a loving and close family who thought the world of him. And Ginger was.

I spoke briefly with Angela his wife and Iain his son-in-law,who would like me to pass on their thanks to all from the Regiment that attended. 

I know that tomorrow, Friday 11th, another of our number will be laid to rest in Durham. I didn't know Vic but he and his family will be in my thoughts.
