I HAVE EVERY ADMIRATION FOR THE BRIGADIER (EVEN THOUGH HE THREW ME INTO JAIL, IN CYPRUS, WHEN HE WAS MY COMMANDING OFFICER.) WITHOUT RESERVATION I RECOMMEND HIS BOOK "IN PRESENCE OF MY FOES" TO ALL SERVING AND NON-ACTIVE RIFLEMEN. IT IS EASILY THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ; THE ONLY WONDER IS THAT NO-ONE, TO DATE, HAS MADE A FILM OF IT. BUT THAT MAY COME ABOUT. THE BOOK REVEALS JUST WHAT GREAT LEADERSHIP OUR REGIMENT HAS IN ITS OFFICERS, WHICH, IN TURN, HAS HELPED TO MAKE US THE GREAT REGIMENT WHICH WE ARE.
MY SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO HIS WIDOW AND FAMILY WHO MUST BE DEVESTATED TO LOSE SUCH A GREAT (AND UNASSUMING) FIGURE FROM THEIR LIVES.
