I would like to sadly announce the death of my father who joined the Royal green jackets on 3/3/49 at Bushfield camp Winchester for his national service.
He was always intensely proud of serving with the regiment and would always regale us with tales of training runs up the hill near the winchester bypass (as was).
He passed away Yesterday (1/7/2009) aged 78 after a brief but painful battle with throat cancer.
My condolences for your loss. Your Fathers service to his country is greatly appreciated by us all. Gone but not forgotten. Once a Rifleman always a Rifleman. Swift and Bold they go before us.
Farewell Ted, just that one final hill to climb now and then its the final RV where you can rest easy with all Riflemen that have gone before you. Your pride was well placed Ted.
As someone who is in remission from throat cancer myself I do not have to imagine all that you went through. Rest well Ted no more pain my brother rifleman. My condolences to all your family and friends. Swift and Bold
