It is with regret that we announce that John Bond has sadly passed away. John served in the 3rd Battalion and then with the 4th Battalion and was caretaker at G Coy at the Ceders.

Our thoughts are with his family.

What a shock it is to hear of the passing of one of my dear old friends from my time with 4 RGJ back in the early eighties.

John was a very funny character and his cockney wit and manner would always put a smile on my face whe I needed a boost.

I didn't know John in 3 RGJ but I have many friends who did serve with him who concur with my thoughts.

Johnny will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of meeting him.

I Will try to make his funeral and join up with more of his old comrades.

We await details of the funeral.

Rest in Peace John.

Very shocked to hear of Bondy's death - he was such an active fella when I knew him at the Cedars. I can still see him beating blokes much younger than him (Steve Carolan and Worthy to name a few)

I bet he's already set up a Black Button Bar in heaven - selling manky lager and suspect pies to St Peter and co - calling everyone a c... and telling stories about the old RB's - and I bet it's packed every night!

RIP Bondy - I'll see you for a shandy before the century's out!
